Traveling Trunk Show

We were lucky enough to have some visitors from the Boone Country Historical Museum come and give us a "Traveling Trunk" presentation.  They reiterated objective we have already learned.  Students were able to touch and play with artifacts that children and adults used during westward expansion, see how butter was made, ask questions about Missouri's history and have a hands-on aspect to learning.  It was so fun to see the excitement and hear and questions students had. 

Skull Guessing Game

As part of our introduction to animal adaptations and structures, we looked at several skulls and bones. Students had to guess what the animal was and what feature they noticed that helped them survive.  It was such a cool way to get hands on experience and really look at animal structures.   

Walk-a-thon Day!

WE had so much fun at our Steps for Stingarays Walk-a-thon!  Students moved the entire time.  Thank you so much to everyone for the donations, volunteering and snacks!  Fun was had by all!  I think we sent home some tired kiddos. 

Yoga in the Classroom

Today, the kids came in very excited about learning yoga.  They kept asking when they got to do it.  After lunch, we did about 45 minutes worth of yoga and practiced mindfulness.  This was so fun and students really took it seriously.  Be sure to ask your child about this. 

Skype Session with K.A. Holt

This morning all of fourth and fifth grade were able to participate in a Skype session with the author K.A. Holt.  It was beyond cool.  She told us all about being a writer, revising and not giving up.  Students were even able to ask her questions and give her ideas of things they'd like her to write about.  I hope when they think back to elementary school, this is something they always remember.
