App Investigation Day

Today we spent the day becoming an expert on an app.  Each student tinkered with an app, learned all about it and then had to teach others.  Each kiddo had to think about how students could use this to be helpful to their learning in the classroom.  I am super impressed with their thinking.  They will each be creating a video to explain what they think and how to use the app for others.

We can't wait to use all these apps and then share some great presentations with you!

Holiday Class Party

Our holiday class party was so much fun!  The kids had a blast making Santa Claus out of popcorn, having relay races and eating delicious food.  Thank you to everyone for the donations and to our room mom, Trista Marple, for coordinating everything.  The kids and I had a blast!!!

Holiday Week Fun...So far!!

This week has been chuck full of fun holiday activities!  What a week it has been.  I have had so much fun with each of your kiddos this week.

We started with Monday Morning meeting.  We sang several holiday songs together as a school.
On Monday, each class rotated between the 4th grade classroom for fun problem solving activities and challenges.  In my room, students were given tape and straws.  They have the build a raft for a penguin that was afraid of water.  I was so impressed with how the groups worked together to build rafts.  I am also happy to announce that not a single raft failed!!  Here are the amazingly creative rafts your kiddos built!!
Tuesday, we spent the day doing Gingerbread House activities.  The kids had a blast creating their structure, decorating it and maybe eating a little sugar along the way.
Tuesday we also took some time and celebrated two of our students, Sydney and Megan, for receiving Citizen of the Month for our class!!  Way to go!

Wednesday was Polar Express Day.  We enjoyed time in our PJs.  In the morning, we did a snowman breakout with Mrs. Fitch...

We loved listening to the Polar Express book and then watching the movie while enjoying hot chocolate and comparing the book to the movie.
Don't worry, we also practiced some of our new amazing multiplication skills we've been learning...
We've also been reading lots of nonfiction passages in the morning!
I hope everyone has an amazing holiday break with family and friends.  Thanks so much for sharing your awesome kids with me each day.  I just love them to pieces!!
