Project Lead the Way with Mrs. Fitch

We were so lucky to have Mrs. Fitch come to our classroom last week and this week for Project Lead the Way.

Last week, we built terrariums the have helped us learn about the water cycle and see how it works.  It's been so fun to make predictions and then check the next day to see if we were right.  Be sure to ask your child about how they made it rain in their terrarium.

This week, Mrs. Fitch came and taught us about contaminated water.  Students were tasked with trying to clean REALLY dirty water.  I loved their research, their ideas, how they tested creations that failed, but then how they tried again.  In the end, they all presented their creation and talked about what they would have done differently.

Thank you, Mrs. Fitch for coming in and giving us hands on learning time with you!

Last Two Days at Boone County Nature School

We had so much fun on Monday at the Nature School.  We learned more about monarch butterflies, learned how to use a compass, tried sap syrup and even played a game with the compass.

On Tuesday, students spent lots of time outside.  We were able to take a hike and use what we've learned about tree sustainability to find unhealthy trees, locate locations for tree to be planted and tell why.  We also used the compass to go on a scavenger hunt hike and learn about underground caves. We had a great time!
