Monday Share Time

Building community in a classroom is so important.  One of our favorite things is Monday shares.  This is a time that we come together and talk about our favorite thing we did over the weekend.  It is such a great way to start the Monday.  We learn LOTS about each other!  Today, Louie brought in arrowheads he found this weekend.  The kids LOVED it!  Thanks for sharing, Louie!

Building Background Knowledge

The Oregon Trail game that used to be fun on the computer is back!  Next week, students will begin to play this game in Media Class.  This week students have begun to form their opinion about the Oregon Trail.  They've gathered lots of information, created a pro/con list and are going to be asked...
Would you go or stay?

Opinion Writing

Students have learned about lots of different opinions they have this week as we have begun talking about our new writing unit.  Opinion writing has been fun.  They've started a discussion board writing different opinions they have on a website called Padlet, they've have class debates and they have also started a list in their writer's notebooks about different strong opinions they have.  Students have learned they must have strong arguments to back up their opinions!
